The property is half of a traditional devon longhouse (joining the owners' half). It has recently been renovated which has exposed ancient beams , presumably salvaged ships timbers from the local shipbuilding industry; it provides a facinating insight into how traditional longhouses were built/added to over the years. From the property there are stunning views over a wooded valley (the colours changing on a daily basis), the nearby port/market town of Bideford and also stretching over to the estuary of the rivers Torridge and Taw. Enjoy the peaceful, rural location at our 120 acre (non working) farm, wandering over fields and woodland areas.
Ideal for family beach holidays and also for those wanting a cosy, relaxing retreat. Centrally located for walking, coastal or inland tracks; many beautiful gardens including R.H.S. Rosemoor, N.T. properties, beaches, theme parks, golf, fishing etc.
After a hard day enjoying yourselves, relax with a glass of wine beside the barbeque or a roaring fire - perfect!
Sunny Patch cottage offers 3 bedrooms;
the master bedroom has king size bed with en-suite shower, toilet and basin and shaver point;
bedroom 2 has a king size bed and a double sofa-bed;
bedroom 3 has a double bed and a single bed.
There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge for additional guests if required.

The lounge has a traditional character with the ancient ships beams, an inglenook fireplace (which originally housed the bread oven) but now has a wood burner for those cosy evenings. There is also the usual TV with freeview and a DVD player, plus an extensive and varied collection of books.
The kitchen/diner is a light and airy room looking over the farmland, facing south and so enjoys sunshine all day long . Kept a traditional farmhouse feel to the kitchen by using reclaimed pine cupboards and old-fashioned belfast sink. The dining table can extend to accommodate 11/12 people easily for family meals or for playing those traditional board games (supplied).
The patio and enclosed garden has a BBQ, garden furniture, parasol etc , faces due south; it is accessed from the kitchen/diner and from the lounge, and again enjoys the sun all day long..
There are communal areas where ball games can be played , picnic in the orchard or explore the woods and tracks round the farm.
Guests are encouraged to explore the farmland (dogs under control when livestock in the fields), to get to the top of the farm and enjoy the views over the county to Dartmoor and Exmoor.
Plenty of space for cars close to the property.

The small port of Bideford in north Devon, England, is located on the River Torridge opposite East-of-the-Water. A perfect location for staying at if you wish to explore the north Devon coast, Bideford is not far from Northam, Abbotsham, Westward Ho!, Appledore, and Monkleigh. The nearest main cities are Plymouth (population 243,795), Exeter (population 106,772), and Truro (which has a population of 20,920 according to the 2001 Census).
By the 16th century Bideford had become the third largest port in England, although its importance is far less these day. It is famed for the 'Long Bridge' which crosses the river and which dates right back to the 15th century.
Bideford is easily accessibly by road, being located on the A39 coastal road, and offers much for the holidaymaker wishing to explore this part of Devon.
